Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to know any German to go on this trip?
No, you do not need to know any German. You can choose to take it there (which I recommend), which will make getting around easier and a lot more fun. Also, you’ll be able to earn 6 college credits for it!
Will I have my own room when staying with a host?
Yes, every student will have their own room. At times, there may be a second student at the same residence, but you will each have a separate room.
I am very interested in music. Is it possible for me to go to extra performances, even if they are not part of the program?
Absolutely. In fact, it is quite possible that some or all of us will join you! The program offers a lot of flexibility to pursue personal interests and I am always glad to help you find out how to get there.
Are there places around the language school, where we can eat.
Yes! In fact, there are lots of different types of restaurants (pasta, sushi, Bavarian etc.) that offer a variety of food. If you are more budget-oriented, there are bakeries and supermarkets, along with more modest cafes, which offer things such as sausages, the delicious and well-known German-Turkish specialty Döner and much more.
I would like to stay in Germany and travel throughout Europe after the trip. Can I make my own travel arrangements?
To give every participant the flexibility to arrive early or stay on, you will book your own flights. However, oftentimes groups of students decide to book and travel together. I will be glad to help.
Will I meet the other students before we go?
We will have at least two pre-departure orientations, where we will meet and learn more about the program and about studying and living in Germany. It is a great way to get to know each other, exchange information, and ask questions!
